구조적 폭력의 세습 Transmission of Structural Violence

바위가 계란을, 계란이 메추리알을 깨뜨리는 영상이 반복된다. 계란은 바위에 맞은 것처럼 똑같 이 메추리알을 향해 돌진한다. 이러한 모순적 행보에 계란 자신의 껍질에 금이 가지만, 이를 아는 지 모르는 지. [구조적 폭력의 세습]은 권력에 따른 사회적 강자가 상대적 약자에게 가하는 구조적 폭력에 관한 작업이다. 사회적 소수자가 상대적으로 더 소수자에 위치한 집단을 만났을 때, 소수자로서 기득권에게서 당하던 혐오방식을 그대로 답습하는 자가당착적 상황을 목격하고, 이에서 출발한 작업이다. 권력의 발현 방식이 세습될 수 있음을 인지하고 구조적 폭력을 견제할 필요성, 예민할 필요성에 대해 생각해 본다. The video shows a rock that breaks an egg, and the egg then breaks a smaller quail egg. Just as the rock propelled itself towards the bigger egg to crush it, the egg now crushes the smaller egg. This act of contradiction cracks the original egg's shell in the process, but the egg does not seem bothered for a second. ‘Transmission of structural violence’ explores structural violence inflicted on the socially oppressed by those in power. The idea for the piece was conceived after observing the paradoxical social phenomenon in which a social minority, when meeting another oppressed individual who is considered to be even more marginalized than themselves, displays similar acts of hatred they were once subjected to. Recognizing the transmissible nature of abuse of power, the artists reiterates the need to raise awareness of the many pitfalls of structural violence.
