About the Artist
Bong Yeawon's work explores the mass violence, and the ensuing cover-ups, that societal structures impose on individuals. Our society, as it has been experienced by the artist, is one that sets aritificial standards of normality for individuals who would otherwise be existing as their natural selves. Such restrictions put them into limited categories of class and hierarchy, and those who lie outside of the boundaries of normality are met with violence. Through their work, Bong dissects the many ways in which these structures cover-up, erase, modify and indoctrinate the individual.
